Wall Walk for Cancer Research

Story

I'm Craig Harwood, an ex Victorian Police Member, and now Joint Managing Director of one of Australia’s largest integrated services companies SECUREcorp. Together with my family, I'll be walking from one side of England to the other following Hadrian’s Wall from 23rd to 30th June 2013, a distance of over 135 kilometres. To make the task interesting, I'll be wearing genuine reproduction roman armour (35+ kg) to raise money for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF).

I've got a very keen interest in Roman Military History and, although I don't dress up in this attire usually, I thought it would be a challenge and a unique way to raise money for cancer research!

My father in law, Kevin Rose, is the legendary former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the VFL.   He was one of five brothers who playedfor Collingwood with the most famous being his older brother Bob Rose.  Kevin was recently inducted as an AFL Life Member and is a Collingwood Life Member  and Collingwood Hall of Fame Inductee. He is currently the President of Heritage Golf Club and Country Club, and will be walking with me over the 135km, (he’s not wearing the roman stuff but will probably be in a Collingwood jumper!) Accompanying Kevin and I will be my wife Natalie (Rose) and our two children Troy (13) and Bridgette (10).

Please support my quest by donating to cancer research and support ACRF's  vision to beat cancer by providing the best scientists with specialised equipment and facilities that speed up finding cures. 100% of donations go directly to research.

Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF)

At Australian Cancer Research Foundation, we know that only brilliant ideas can tackle something as big as cancer. That is why since 1984, we have given scientists the technology, equipment and infrastructure they need for pioneering research. From small vaccines to big machines our funding has supported some of the biggest outcomes in cancer research, across Australia.

Over the last 40 years, we have invested $184 million into 86 cancer research projects across 44 institutions.

ACRF supporters have backed landmark projects such as; the development of the world’s first cancer vaccine (for cervical cancer), the establishment of a precision medicine program working towards the goal of zero deaths from childhood cancer and the creation of the innovative MRI-Linac which will improve patient outcomes and reduce the trauma associated with radiation therapy. By funding research that seeks to progress and transform the way we prevent, detect and treat ALL cancers, we are committed to our vision of one day reaching a world without cancer.
