Riverview Kokoda Track Group raising funds for Kokoda Track Foundation
Story
On September 19th the Riverview Kokoda Track Immersion departs with 42 Boys, 12 Parents and 5 Staff. The group of 59 have been training hard for months leading up to departure. Along the track we will be working with communities in their schools and villages. Adding to this we are raising funds for the Kokoda Track Foundation who support these commuities along the track. We can make a difference to the people along the track by our presence and donations. The boys will spend time with these groups and the difference will be shared by them and us. Adding to this the challenge and grind of 96km over 8 days and nights it will be an incredible achievement by all.

KTF (Kokoda Track Foundation)
We're an Aussie NGO that works with people and communities to improve lives, livelihoods and futures of Papua New Guineans, keeping the spirit of Kokoda alive.
Expanding beyond our original focus region of Kokoda in Oro Province, KTF now works with communities across 16 of PNG’s 22 provinces....and we have big plans for 2021 and beyond.
We operate programs in the vital areas of education, health, equality and leadership.
Over the past decade, we have delivered a range of projects including the construction of school and aid post infrastructure along and around theKokoda Track, delivery of educational supplies to 20 schools and drugs and medical supplies to 15 aid posts, postings of 15 teachers and over a dozen communityhealth workers, distribution of over 32,000 solar lights across the country, installation of 1,000+ household solar units in the Kokoda catchment, establishment of businesses by Women’s Groups in five provinces and the design and delivery of the Archer Leadership program to find and foster PNG’s future leaders for 10 years.
600+ students currently have a second chance at education, studying Grades 9 to 12 via Flexible Open Distance Education at Kokoda College, Balimo College and the Motu Koita FODE Centre. We have trained 3,685 elementary teachers via our Teach for Tomorrow project and supported the ongoing professional development for teachers via Teach for Tomorrow II, upskilling 220+ teacher trainers. Teach for Tomorrow, the Early Years is developing and implementing Early Childhood Education frameworks in conjunction with provincial Departments of Education. Our network of coaches in Western Province is also working with a core group of 37 elementary teachers to build their teaching skills.
