Pink Lads Run From Narromine to Sydney

Story

Blackmores Sydney Running Festival here we come again! The well known "Pink Lads" are doing it again because last year was such a success.The event will take place from the Glenn McGrath Statue in Narromine and conclude at the start of the Blackmores Running Festival on Sunday 18 September 2011. Support our cause and also our sponsors, Mizuno, Maui, Blackmores Health, Oakley, Coates Hire and Southside Runners Cronulla

 
The "Pink Lads" Glenn Stanley Gorick and Mal Butterfield, will meet Glenn McGraths Dad, Kevin at the Glenn McGrath Statue and hand them the PINK starters pistol to the Blackmores Sydney Running Festival Bridge Run. Glenn and Mal will then carry the PINK pistol to the start in Sydney and hand it to Glenn McGrath to officially start the 9klm Fun Run. Tony Abbott has come on board and will run the final leg from Manly with us.
 
The distance the Pink Lads will run is app 424 kms passing through the towns of Dubbo, Orange, Bathurst, Lithgow, Katoomba, Penrith and then to Sydney. The run will promote the McGrath Foundation and awareness of Breast cancer in regional NSW. Dressed in bright pink, the lads will be out on the highways between 12/9/10 and 18/9/20.

The McGrath Foundation raises money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses right across Australia and invest in their professional development to ensure people with breast cancer receive the highest standard of care.McGrath Breast Care Nurses are registered nurses specially trained to manage the care of people with breast cancer from diagnosis and throughout treatment.The Foundation currently funds 233 nurses who provide essential support for families by offering medical expertise, clinical care, and psychosocial support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment - for free and without a referral.Breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer for women in Australia and more than 20,000 people are diagnosed each year.
