Talia's "Dry" Run
Talia's "Dry" Run
Story
Hi there!
I’ve swum, run half-marathons
Which’ve made me fit as a flea;
I've loved “tough-mudder”, ocean sailing
And skiing comps ‘cross the seas.
But I’ve climbed all those mountains now
(If not always with flair),
So for my fund-raising venture
I don’t really want to go there.
A challenge is what’s called for
With a truly testing “aroma”
To raise much-needed funds
To beat neuroblastoma.
“Give up grog!” someone said,
(“Bet you’d never manage that!)
Dry July’s coming up –
A whole month ….. you’ll fall flat!”
Now that is a challenge – says I,
But 31 days? That’s for pussies.
I’ll do 42 (to match my age)
Just to show I’m no wussie.
So now I’m looking for sponsors,
Gather round everyone;
This is my hardest mountain so far,
A truly epic “dry” run!
I want to make a difference so my "dry" run is going without alcohol for 42 days (1 June to 12 July 2014) for a cause that's close to my heart, Neuroblastoma.
Neuroblastoma almost exclusively strikes infants and children, and is the third most common type of Childhood Cancer after Leukemia and brain tumors. It is also the leading single cause of cancer deaths of children under 5. Currently neuroblastoma survival rates are only 50% and this is your opportunity to help us change them through helping us raise funds for research. For more information about Neuroblastoma Australia please see their web site http://www.neuroblastoma.org.au
I’d appreciate any contribution, big or small.
Donations made through this web site are secure and will be remitted directly through to Neuroblastoma Australia.
Thanks so much for your support!
PS And a massive thank you to mum for the great poem!
Neuroblastoma Australia
Neuroblastoma is a devasting childhood cancer with the average age of diagnosis being just two years old. With survival of rates for aggressive neuroblastoma at only 50%, this disease claims more lives of children under the age of five than any other cancer.
We don’t need a miracle; just more research.
Neuroblastoma Australia, is a registered charity founded by families with children affected by the disease and has raised over $1.7 million for research into a cure for this complex cancer which almost exclusively affects young children.
You can make a difference. Help raise funds for research into more effective and less toxic treatments for neuroblastoma today.
