Challenge: Walking 162km for Diabetes Australia
I'm taking on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail - all 162km of it - to raise funds for Diabetes Australia. I will be walking the Trail with my full backpack, camping along way in the little towns all along the trail. My best friend, Matt, will be my support person providing food, clean clothes and battery packs. My Exercise Physiologist, Travis, is helping me prepare physically. My Dietician, Sophie, is helping me with nutrition leading up to, and during, the hike.
Living with Type Two Diabetes, I'm fortunate enough to have access to a Continuous Glucose Monitor that helps me manage my condition effectively. However, many Australians don't have the same privilege.
Diabetes Australia works tirelessly to improve access to vital monitoring technology for everyone affected by diabetes. They support people with all types of diabetes through research, advocacy, and practical assistance.
My goal is to raise $700 to help Diabetes Australia continue their crucial work. Every dollar contributed helps fund research across the full spectrum of diabetes management, prevention, and ultimately working toward a cure.
I'd appreciate any contribution, big or small, to help make diabetes management more accessible for all Australians.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly to Diabetes Australia.
Thank you so much for your support!
Diabetes Australia
Diabetes Australia is the national body for people affected by all types of diabetes and those at risk. As a not for profit organisation, Diabetes Australia works with consumers, health professionals, and researchers. We are committed to reducing the impact of diabetes. Diabetes Australia's core focus areas are: people affected by all types of diabetes- this includes people with type 1 diabetes, people with type 2 diabetes, women with gestational diabetes, people with other forms of diabetes, their families and carers, and people at risk of developing diabetes. The Diabetes Australian Research Program supports and develops outstanding diabetes research in Australia. We do this by funding a range of grants across the full spectrum of diabetes research through a merit based, competitive, peer review process. Research projects can focus on prevention amd management of diabetes, as well as researching for a cure to diabetes.
