Story
The Longest Day - 72 Hole Golf Challenge for The Cancer Council – Wednesday 9th December
As many members will recall in December last year four of us set out to play 72 holes of golf on the longest daylight day of the year to raise funds for the Cancer Council. With the support of the Sandhurst Community we were blown away by the efforts of all to raise in excess of $7,500.
As we know a lot has happened since December last year when Covid was not part of our way of life.
This year we are doing it all again the same four. Corrina, Rob, Anthony and myself. Covid isn't the only difference for us this year. This year we want to dedicate our fundraising specifically to PanCare Foundation for pancreatic cancer and the Cancer Council. The reason for this is one of our team, Anthony has been very personally impacted by cancer. Sadly, he and his wife Jo lost Jo's Mum to cancer earlier in the year. Further to this Anthony has more recently discovered that two men very close to him, a business partner, and a close friend for over 30 years and a Foundation member of Sandhurst Martyn Daff are both seriously ill with cancer. Both have young families, and both are doing it pretty hard at present. It just shows how cancer can so easily and quickly impact us and our loved ones.
So, this year, we want to do it all again, specifically to support Anthony, his family and his friends. We look forward to once again having the Sandhurst community support our fundraising, and hope lots of you can come out and show your support on the day. Wednesday December 9th.
