Hi there!
Every September I am reminded that it was my mother’s month. Her birthday is on the 8th. Each year on that day I am filled with immense gratitude, and warm memories of her life; a life that was cut short due to liver cancer.
A key trait of mum was her persistence in getting my siblings and I to be the best versions of ourselves. To think of pain not as a chronic definition of what our lives would be, but to continually fight for ourselves and for those we love. To offer protection, kindness and good manners. To persevere in times of hardship, because there is always a light. We were her light. She was ours.
As I write this I extend my hand out to others who have been affected by this vicious illness.
I am committed to raising money for The Liver Foundation Australia, in memory of my mother, and for all of those who are affected by it.
For the 30 days of September, I will be doing a push up challenge that gradually increases day by day, with a few rest days throughout the month. I am hoping to reach 50 by Day 30!

The Liver Foundation

The Liver Foundation exists to address the spectrum of liver disease from very mild disease in the community, right through to advanced liver disease. This is people requiring liver transplantation and people with severe complications of liver disease, including liver cancer.
Liver cancer is the fastest growing cause of cancer in Australia and it has a devastatingly low survival rate. Only 1 in 5 people diagnosed with liver cancer in Australia survive more than 5 years. This is a devastating outcome and one we are committed to changing.
Currently 1 in 3 Australians have some form of liver disease, and most of them don't know it. There is a great deal that can be done to reverse, treat and even cure liver diseases - but the first step is awareness.
