Story
Hey hey!
I have decided to fight back on the beer belly and simply giving up beer is not an option! So I will be running to complete the Newcastle Marathon on the 7th April 2019. To motivate me, I have asked Mara to pick a cause that I can raise donations / awareness for. The group that I will be running for is ACT for Kids, whose purpose is to prevent child abuse and assist those who require it.
I have never competed in a race greater than 12km length, so will be undertaking a 14-week training program with the aim of completing the race in less than 3.5 hours. I will provide updates leading up to the race date.
Week 3 - Starting to feel more comfortable on the longer runs
So far training has been going reasonably well. No injuries yet and am starting to feel like I can control my tempo on the longer runs.
Cross training has definitely made a big difference.
Week 1 - Training commences...
Fortunately Monday is going to be 'rest day'. As such, I've finalised the training schedule (that's half challenge, right?!).
