On August 4th I will be running 10k along the Sunshine Coast to raise money for our bees.

Bees not only make honey but they are also extremely important in our Agriculture. Without bees we will not have Almonds, Apples, Avocados, Cucumbers, Broccoli, Cabbage, Onions, Carrots, Blueberries and many more fruits and vegetables. This is due to the dependence on the pollination of the bees. Bees even have a 20-25% impact on your morning cup of coffee. It would cost farmers billions to pollinate the crops themselves which would have a huge impact on the economy. A worker bee can visit 2,000 flowers per day which keep our land beautiful and helps with climate change. 

Bees are at risk of becoming extinct. It is believed it is due to the use of pesticides in crop production and parasites. This causes colony collapse disorder, which is when all the worker bees leave the queen. If bees went extinct it would create a chain reaction which would first impact the plants/flowers, then the animals that eat the plants including the human race. 

The Wheen Bee Foundation is a charity that uses their donations to do extremely important research to help identify and find solutions to the decline of bees. They love bees and want to help them. 

So please lets do our part for our buzzy friends and either help these guys with donations, or if you see a dying bee in your garden leave a little sugar water beside him.
