Angkor Wat Run for Sunrise Children's Villages
Story
Please sponsor us for the Angkor Wat Run!
Joe, Anna and Priya are bravely running a half marathon and Serena, Rachel, Emily and Brad will be running 10km around the famous Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia on 4 December 2011 to raise money for the Sunrise Children's Villages in Cambodia.
By taking part in the run we're contributing towards aid for landmine victims, but we wanted to go the extra mile and support 2 local orphanages.
The Sunrise Children's Villages are two orphanages located in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. The orphanages care for hundreds of orphaned or disadvantaged Cambodian children. Construction commenced in February for a 3rd centre in Sihanoukville Province.
Serena's employer, Ashurst LLP, already actively supports the charity and Serena and Joe will be volunteering at the orphanage in Siem Reap the day after the run. It is a great opportunity to see firsthand the wonderful work which is done by Geraldine, the adminstrator of the charity, and those who work at and support the orphanages.
We will post photos of the visit so you can see exactly where your money is going!
There are 7 of us running so we're reaching out to friends and family to spare what they can. Hopefully between us we can raise a large sum. Please note the donations are in AUD.
