Down and dirty for a good cause
Down and dirty for a good cause
Story
Hey! Hi! Hello!
This October I've decided to take part in Tough Mudder, which I'm pretty sure most of you know is a gruelling half-marathon made for people that are basically insane.
In addition to running a half marathon, I'm going to have to make it through a series of obstacles that the Tough Mudder website tells me will zap me, freeze me, and get me very, very muddy. Sounds fun, huh?
So I figure if I'm gonna do this thing, I might as well raise some money for a good cause while I'm at it.
I'm donating all funds raised to the Animal Welfare League NSW - a cause that's close to my heart. The Animal Welfare League cares for abandoned, surrendered and neglected animals.
The Animal Welfare League offer the following services for animals across NSW:
- Three animal welfare shelters in NSW where surrendered animals are cared for prior to adoption (two of these are open to the public)
- Inspectors who respond to reports of animal cruelty or neglect
- A full service veterinary hospital at the Kemps Creek Shelter
- A discount desexing program through a network of 13 volunteer branches around NSW
- A Foster care network for those wishing to care for abandoned and surrendered pets until we can find them forever homes
- An Education program to improve animal welfare in the community
- Pet boarding where your pet can relax and enjoy their holiday
- A Bequest Program, including Legacy House for cats, to look after animals whose owners have passed
If you want to know more about the Animal Welfare League, or Tough Mudder, visit the websites at: http://www.awlnsw.com.au/what-we-do.html and https://toughmudder.com.au
Any donations would be greatly appreciated and will also bring you seven years good fortune*.
*Any good fortune experienced over the course of the next seven years may or may not have occurred as a result of donating to this cause.
Animal Welfare League NSW
Animal Welfare League NSW is a registered charity that has been operating for over 60 years. We provide expert care to surrendered, neglected and abandoned companion animal across NSW. Our vision is that all companion animals in NSW have a safe and loving home. We strive for this through our work in rehoming, education and discount desexing programs. We also send out our inspectors who are authorised to investigate allegations of animal cruelty. As part of our Getting to Zero philosophy (G2Z) we are also committed to achieving zero euthanasia of healthy and treatable cats and dogs. Our charity is funded by generous animal-lovers and kind volunteers help keep our doors open. There are many ways people can get involved with us including by donating, fundraising or volunteering. Our shelter and vet clinic is open 7 days a week. If you would like to adopt an animal from us, or if you live in a regional area you can contact your closest AWL NSW volunteer branch - for more about our work go to www.awlnsw.com.au
