Walking Jervis Bay for CLAN 2011

Story

This fundraiser has now expired - sincere thanks to all those who supported this project.

CLAN is proud and grateful to report that successful Club meetings for the Nephrotic Syndrome Community of Vietnam were conducted in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in 2011-12, and we continue to support these fledgling communities.

Hi, we are walking 45km around Jervis Bay from 15-16 October 2011 to raise much needed funds for CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours). We hope to raise $20000 for CLAN to establish family support groups for children living with Nephrotic Syndrome (NS - a type of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in resource-poor settings, and continue to translate medical texts and information books into the different languages of the countries we work. Thanks to our 6 ft track walkers in 2010 (see photo below) we raised $20150 to help children with CAH (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia), Diabetes and Autism. If you would like to learn more about CLAN, please visit www.clanchildhealth.org. Please sponsor our team members as they walk for our neighbours' children, and help them enjoy a quality of life on par with that of children with NS here in Australia. All donations are tax deductible, and receipts will be provided automatically through GoFundraise when you make your donation. Walk strong people!

CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours)

CLAN (Caring & Living As Neighbours) is a not-for-profit, Non Government Organisation, established in Australia in 2004. Our vision is to maximise quality of life for children living with chronic health conditions in resource-poor countries of the world. These children suffer significant, preventable and inequitable morbidity, mortality and disability, and CLAN believes this situation is at odds with the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child. CLAN is currently working to help children who are living with Diabetes, Autism, Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia (CAH), Nephrotic Syndrome (NS), Duchenne Muscular Dystropy (DMD) and Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) amongst others, and we collaborate with partners in Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan and the Philippines.
