Story
Hi guys,
Many of you know our story, but for those who don’t,
During the last 12 months, I’ve watched my life partner, and the love of my life, live through very aggressive Crohn’s disease. From my perspective, it’s the most scary and stressful thing I’ve ever been through. I’ve felt lost and helpless. I don’t know the pain of crohns, but I could only describe it as constant, excruciating and ‘screaming’ pain.
It’s taken so much from our lives.
There have been many ups and downs, and this time last year was the beginning of nearly 6 weeks in hospital for Rachel. Those 6 weeks included more medication than the average person would have in their lifetime, and endless complications. The experience of the past 12 months has brought us closer together than ever before. I couldn’t be more proud of the way Rach has battled through this.
For those who don’t know, Crohn's disease is an autoimmune disease. A type of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It causes inflammation of your digestive tract. (Like the inflammation you’d see on your skin when you have a healing wound)
Inflammation caused by Crohn's disease can involve different areas of the digestive tract in different people. This inflammation often spreads into the deeper layers of the bowel.
Crohn's disease can be both painful and debilitating, and can lead to life-threatening complications.
While there's no known cure for Crohn's disease, therapies can greatly reduce its signs and symptoms and even bring about long-term remission and healing of inflammation. With treatment, many people with Crohn's disease are able to function well. (These medicinal treatments are targeted at certain areas of the immune system to control the inflammation)
This disease can have debilitating symptoms and treatment can be very expensive. For anyone silently suffering from this horrible disease, I have the greatest admiration for you.
I’ve started this page, as May is Crohn’s & Colitis Australia Awareness month. I’m hoping that every dollar raised can help somebody who is suffering through this awful disease. I’m passionate about raising awareness, and helping those in need.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to my charity. Anything you can donate is truly meaningful to me, even if it’s just sharing this link.

Every dollar counts and I’d really appreciate if you could spare a few. You’ll be helping someone who desperately needs your help!
The past 12 months has taught me to cherish your health and your loved ones. They’re all that really matters. For those who have been there for Rachel and I, thank you, from the bottom of my heart.. This journey has been rough, and your endless words of support are more meaningful than you know. It’s made the world of difference!
Thanks so much for your support!
Crohn's & Colitis Australia
For more than three decades, Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA) has been empowering the more than 100,000 Australian men, women and children living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) – to live fearlessly.
While we invest in research for a cure, CCA continues to advocate for world best treatments and health services for those living with IBD. Through our programs we offer education and support for Australia’s growing Crohn’s and colitis community and raise awareness of the disease. Importantly, our services are offered free of charge.
