Mind Over Miles - Australian Outback Edition
Mind Over Miles - Australian Outback Edition
Story
Out on the land, where the skies stretch wide and the work never ends, too many of our farmers are quietly fighting battles that we can't see- battles with isolation, drought, floods, financial strain, the crushing weight of uncertainty. Some go days without speaking to another soul. Some are struggling to hang on. Mental health struggles are rising in the bush, but access to support remains limited.
Mind Over Miles isnt just about long walks - its a statement of solidarity. A 790km walk from Longreach to Gladstone in September to say: we see you, hear you and we are with you. This journey is not about ticking off kilometers; it's about carrying the stories, the hardships and the resiliences of Australians farming communities with every step.
We're walking for mental health. For families under pressure. For farmers who show up for us every day - through fire, flood and drought.
Every dollar raised goes directly towards Rural Aid, one of Australia's leading rural charities. Your support funds mental health counselling, financial relief, and essential services like hay, water and groceries - providing immediate and long-term help where its needed most.
This is more than a fundraiser - it's a lifeline.
Because behind every farm gate is a human story. A family. A legacy.
The walk is long. But the path our farmers walk every day - physically, mentally and emotionally - is even longer.
Mind Over Miles is our way of walking alongside them, step by step, until they know they arent alone.
Help us carry the weight. For our farmers. For their future.
Rural Aid Ltd
Rural Aid supports farmers and rural communities in times of natural disaster such as flood, fire and drought. In addition, Rural Aid focusses on supporting the sustainability of regional and farming communities. Our disaster relief program includes the nationally recognised Buy a Bale campaign and delivers hay, water, and financial assistance for farmers across Australia. Our Counselling program employs nationally registered counsellors, who live within their communities, to offer emotional and practical support to farmers and their families. We also provide volunteer support to rural towns, through our Community Support program. Volunteers and tradespeople visit remote and rural areas to help fix infrastructure that farmers do not have the skill, time or money to do themselves.
