Dax's Ironman Challenge for Crohn's & Colitis
Dax's Ironman Challenge for Crohn's & Colitis
Story
My beautiful wife has been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis this year. She has not let the disease stop her reaching her goals. I'm so proud of her running marathons and now doing triathlons. This provides confidence in other people with the disease that they can do it too. We would like to make a difference with combating this disease by raising money to complete my first Ironman and finding a cure so people like my wife can stop suffering.
Any donation will help find a cure! The cause is unknown and at present there is no cure. Ulcerative colitis often develops between the ages of 15 and 30 but can start at any age. With your support, CCA can continue to raise awareness of IBD in the community, and fund research to help find a cure for IBD.
Fundraising and Triathlon Racing Blog:
I am attempting to complete my first Ironman event in Melbourne on the 25th March 2012 (http://ironmanmelbourne.com). It is a race that will last for around 10 hours to do a 3.8k swim, 180km bike ride and a 42km marathon. Total of 226kms. The goal is $10 per Km.
Crohn's & Colitis Australia
For more than three decades, Crohn’s & Colitis Australia (CCA) has been empowering the more than 100,000 Australian men, women and children living with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis – collectively known as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) – to live fearlessly.
While we invest in research for a cure, CCA continues to advocate for world best treatments and health services for those living with IBD. Through our programs we offer education and support for Australia’s growing Crohn’s and colitis community and raise awareness of the disease. Importantly, our services are offered free of charge.
