Story

I FINISHED!

12:04 after the start - happy to be finished.

More pics and video on Facebook.

After an epic 12 hours of racing, I am a solo M2M finisher. With a late run of donations coming through I smashed the 2k target and am very proud to have contributed the total on the right to Soldier On. It's not too late to help. You can still donate until the end of May so please consider making a small contribution.

"THE MARYSVILLE TO MELBOURNE MULTISPORT CHALLENGE, COMBINING TRAIL RUNNING, ROAD CYCLING AND FLAT WATER PADDLING INTO ONE EPIC EVENT THAT WILL CHALLENGE AMATEURS AND EXPERTS IN EQUAL MEASURE FROM START TO FINISH."

The  Marysville 2 Melbourne Multisport Challenge is a grueling all day race through some picturesque but very hilly and demanding countryside.

The race starts before dawn with a wet and muddy (normally) undulating cross country mountain run of 20km. Then a road bike ride of 90 km up and over Black Spur and through Kinglake and through some of the best of the Dandenong Ranges before ending up in the outer suburbs. Then a leisurely 15 km run along the Yarra river to Heidleburg. After a change of clothes I'll jump into a kayak and paddle all the way to Dights falls (Carry my craft around the rapids) then through the CBD to finish 30 km paddling later (Somewhere around sunset) at the Docklands harbour. Why would I take on a 157 km epic race like this?? For Charity Of Course.

Having served for 10 years in the Australian Army, this is a charity close to home. This organisation supports injured servicemen and women. For that, they get my vote.

For more details of the event check out the Rapid Ascent Page.

My M2M challenge is a drop in the ocean when compared to the challenges that lay ahead of injured members of the Australian Defence Force. While some injuries are obvious and can be hard to miss, others can remain hidden from view for years.

So, I'm asking you to donate, please.

Not to support me, but to support your family member, friend, relative or work mate, who knows what it feels like to pull on an ADF uniform and serve. You are all only one or two steps away from someone who has served in the ADF.

Thank you for all the individuals listed below and the ongoing support of the following companies to me in this challenge and of the good Work that Soldier On is doing:

In April, Soldier On and Outward Bound are teaming up to give opportunities for Defence Folk to participate in their course.

Please support those that support me.
