The Great Kids Entertainment Giveaway

Story

HI. My name is Benny. Im an early childhood teacher and a children's performer under the name Benny Time.

I don't really have any clever words to tell you why literacy is so important to foster in a child. I think it would be a hard search to find a person who would refute its neccesity. Its an essential tool for growth, self respect, and identity and is the corner stone to educational resilience. Having access to good quality resources and opportunity isn't something that should be reserved for a fortunate few. Its an essential right that should be afforded to every child. However, oddly, it seems not all of our children have the same basic support. So I figured Id try to do my bit to lend a hand.

For the past several years I have been running a podcast which involves interviewing our countries finest kids performers, (which you should totally check out by the way, at my website www.bennytime.com) and this has put me in this wonderful position whereby I have been able to amass an amazing group of friends within the scene. So much so, I made a call out asking if they would be interested in donating some of their merchandise for me to offer up as a prize for one lucky donor. I was hopeful but I couldn't have ever predicted their response. Justine Clarke, Peter Combe, Lah lahs Big Live Band, Aunty Wendy's Mob, The Vegetable Plot, The Teeny Tiny Stevies and many many more, all reached deep into their bags of merch and gladly gave me some of their 'stuff' for me to share with you. It was pretty humbling really, and now I have this enormous children's entertainment pack to offer one lucky donor.

So, help me raise $10,000 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation & be in the running for weekly giveaways and a grand prize worth over $1000.  To be eligible you simply have to make a donation of $10 or more, and then hover patiently around your social system of choice when I announce the winner on October 6th.

Thats it. Its all pretty simple really. Every child deserves the right to have all their educational needs met. Reading and writing being the most obvious. Literacy is not a luxury, its amazing and deserved by all.

Thanks for hearing me out and thanks so much for your support

Benny

        Indigenous Literacy Foundation

"The Indigenous Literacy Foundation is helping to open the door to our young people's dreams" - Sally Morgan, Ambassador.
Help us address literacy and improve the lives and opportunities of young Indigenous children growing up in the remotest parts of Australia. The Indigenous Literacy Foundation advocates and raises funds to deliver culturally appropriate books to over 200 remote communities across Australia. The foundation also provides an early literacy program aimed at building important preliteracy skills for babies and toddlers. This focuses on enpowering parents and communities and providing the best possible resources (in home language) in a structured program. ILF also translates books into local language and works hand in hand with remote communities to publish stories that communities want to tell. ILF was established in 2006 by educator and bookseller Suzy Wilson and is an initiative of the Australian Book Industry.
"...for some of the parents this is the first time they have sat down and read a story with their child, so it is great that we have these wonderful books available for them" - Port Augusta Community Group.
