Ben's Climbing Adventures!
Ben's Climbing Adventures!
Story
6 years ago I began climbing and I very quickly fell in love with mountains.
The obsession grows and has brought me to some amazing places around the world. Quite often the people I meet in these far away places aren’t as lucky as us in the western world, however they are always such happy, friendly people. Always smiling.
In October I will be travelling to the Himalaya on a double expedition to climb Cholatse and Ama Dablam. The Himalaya is a region I intend to explore on numerous expeditions over the next ten years and of course is famous for the biggest mountains, adventure and the Nepalese people.
Climate change is something that affects us all, and it feels to me like the world is starting to fall apart around us. I’m always staggered when I see for myself how far glaciers have receded, a great indicator and right now people of the northern hemisphere are experiencing unprecedented heat waves due to the arctic not being cold enough.
Climate change effects the people living in Khumbu region of the Himalaya greatly by the forming of large glacial lakes due to melting, landslides, flash floods and droughts.
Help me to raise $10,000 for the Australia Himalayan Foundation. AHF will educate the children of the Khumbu through their climate change initiative project, developing local solutions for climate change adaptation. And also spreading the discussion of climate change everywhere.
No matter what we are passionate about, something we care about will be affected by climate change.
The AHF has also just launched a conservation programme to help protect snow leopards, there are only 3500 of these incredible creatures left in the wild and with so many creatures threated with extinction we should be working hard to save as many as possible.
So let’s get started……….
