Story
Hi there!
There are 1,920 children with congenital heart disease born in Australia annually, and the total number of Australian children with this condition aged 0-18 is estimated at 34,560.
Dental diseases pose high risks for children with heart conditions, as the bacteria involved have direct and drastic implications for the treatment of cardiac conditions and can be life threatening.
Almost 50% of children with heart disease have their surgery delayed, as their dental treatment needs to be managed first.
eviDent supported research aims to give these children better access to care.
You can learn more about this particular project here: https://www.evident.org.au/research/projects/017-facilitators-and-barriers-to-oral-health-for-children-with-cardiac-conditions
At the moment, this project is running with kind support from various sources, including the University of Melbourne and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, but more is needed.
In November 2019, I’ll be walking Miles for Smiles - nearly 60km over 3 days - to raise much needed funds and create awareness of the eviDent Foundation.
I’m hoping you can help me by supporting me in this incredible challenge by donating to help me reach my fundraising target. I’d appreciate any contribution, big or small.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to eviDent.
Thanks so much for your support!
