An underwater walk for the reef
An underwater walk for the reef
Story
Hi there!
My name is Amber and I am a 17 time Australian Freediving record holder. Last year I dived to 81m without breathing, deeper than any Australian woman has gone before. This year though, I'm doing something a bit different!
I'm going to attempt the longest walk done underwater - without breathing - by any person ever.
And this time I'm holding my breath for a cause that is close to my heart. As someone who was born in Queensland, grew up snorkeling the great barrier Reef, and now spends a huge amount of my life underwater, the health of our oceans is extremely important to me.
Unfortunately when it comes to the ocean and our incredible marine life, it is often a case of "out of sight, out of mind". But if we want to ensure healthy oceans for future generations to come, we have to keep fighting.
Any support, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
Thank you
Australian Marine Conservation Society
The Australian Marine Conservation Society (AMCS) is the voice for Australia’s oceans. We are Australia’s only national charity dedicated solely to protecting our precious ocean wildlife – a community of ocean lovers across the nation working for healthy seas.
We are an independent charity, staffed by a committed group of scientists, educators and passionate advocates who have defended Australia’s oceans for over 55 years. Our paid and volunteer staff work every day to protect our coasts and oceans. AMCS works on the big issues that risk our ocean wildlife. Together, we have protected critical ocean ecosystems with marine reserves around the nation, including Ningaloo and the Great Barrier Reef. We have led the movement to ban whaling, stopped supertrawlers, and protected threatened and endangered species like the Australian Sea Lion.
Together, our community of ocean lovers save our oceans every day.If you want to help ensure Australia’s coasts and oceans remain healthy and free for tomorrow’s generations, join us today.
