Hi All,

I'm competing in the Avon Descent on a Stand Up Paddleboard for a cause that's close to my heart. I’d appreciate any contribution, big or small. My target is $10,000.

In 2015 Nepal was struck by a series of devastating earthquakes. In the wake of these, 3.5 million people were left homeless and without jobs and schools to return to.

In the weeks following April 2015, my brother in law and sister, Amit and Sarah Thapa, founded the Friends Of Nepal Association. Initially FONA raised awareness and funding to aid relief. Amit and Sarah quickly identified the need not only for new schools, but for state of the art learning facilities.

Two very busy years later and FONA are now an internationally recognised registered charity and the first school has been designed and if being built right now!

My overall aim is to raise enough money to build an entire classroom which will cost $20,000. I've set my first target at $10,000. This will cover the cost of the fit out of one of the classrooms and will be a huge achievement in itself!

The Avon Descent race is 124km down river over two days.. ..long stretches of flat water, rapids, white water and this year the water looks low so heaps of portage over rocks! SUP's are not expected to finish the entire course and places will be awarded on distance completed over two days.

I expect to be on the water for 5-6hrs on day one and 8-10hrs on day two and I won't be able to do it alone! The paddle board I'll race on has been kindly provided by RED Paddle Co. They are the best inflatable SUP's going!

Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to FONA. All relevant tax paperwork for businesses and individuals are also available here.

Thanks so much for your support!
