THE BIG RUN 4A CURE

Come hell or high water, on Sunday 30^th October 2011 David Williams aims to run from the Palana boat ramp to the Lady Barron wharf.  A foot journey of more than 70kms. It will be a solo run by 64 year old Flinders island resident David, who has been training for over a year now. To the best of our knowledge this is the first time running the full distance solo has been attempted.

The purpose of David’s epic run is to raise as much money as he can for Cure Cancer Australia Foundation.

Your help is needed to make this day a success. There are several ways in which you can assist:

1. There will be timesheets set out in Walker’s and Bowman’s stores, and for only $10 a pop you will be able to guess how long it will take David to complete the run!! You can of course make as many guesses as you want. The nearest guess to the finishing time will win a return airfare to Launceston made available by the generosity of Liz Grimshaw.
    
2. You can join David somewhere on the route, run a few kilometers with him and make a donation on the day. Watch this space for more information on David’s route for THE BIG RUN 4A CURE.

In 2011, Cure Cancer is directing $1.8million of vital seed funding to 21 promising young researchers. Every dollar goes towards funding the best young cancer researchers in Australia and helps with crucial start-up funding to continue their ground-breaking research.

The work of Cure Cancer is only made possible by committed and passionate people like David who take a positive stand of hope against the devastation that cancer causes by supporting research, and thanks to your support these heroic researchers may just hold the key to a cure.
