Ride for Cancer
Ride for Cancer
Story
It is a sad reality that in today’s society most of us know someone who is affected by cancer or affected themselves!
For me, it was my grandmother Josie who bravely fought Lung Cancer for just under two years before losing her battle in November 2009. It is my hope that in this generation we see a brighter future in terms of cancer treatment and survival rates.
It is organisations like the Cancer Council Tasmania who work tirelessly to minimise the incidence and impact of cancer, through advocacy, awareness and offering advice and support for those living with cancer and their families.
While I know that on an individual level I may not be able to change the face of cancer, I do hope I can inspire you to help me raise money to support the important work that the Cancer Council Tasmania does.
To do this I have set myself a challenge to complete a 200km bike ride from Launceston to Hobart on June 1st on behalf of the Cancer Council Tasmania, to raise funds in the way of sponsorship and donations. I will do most of this distance solo and am aiming to complete the ride in 8-10 hours. Donations can be made before and after the event or along the way.
All I ask is to please give where you can, donations of $2 or more are tax deductible and sponsorship can be arranged. 100% of funds raised go to the cancer council Tasmania, so please give generously for the people close to you who been affected by cancer.
