Story
My name is Ron and I am 86 years old. I am the proud father of Linda Gouldsmith. She is the founder and CEO of a local charity called Access Hope. Its main work is to empower orphaned Kenyan children to break the poverty cycle and to enable them to have bright futures.
During Seniors Week at Beatty Park Leisure Centre (Saturday 10:00am 14th November), I completed 100 push-ups for the children in Kenya. I did this to bring awareness to their desperate situation, and to raise $85,000 (down from $120,000) to purchase the last two acres of available land where Access Hope’s children’s home is currently being built. This land would be used to graze animals, grow crops to feed the children and for a future building.
I was inspired by Sir Tom Moore who managed to raise millions for charity, despite not leaving his backyard.
I am challenging myself to change their world, you can do this too by joining this challenge and creating your own fundraising page. Our website has a running total which combines the donations between this page and the website. At the time this was written (26/12/2020) we are at almost $26,000! If we do not get this land soon we will miss out and this is the only plot of land available next to the children`s home.
We have also been able to negotiate the price of the land down to $85,000 from $120,000 so we are even closer to our goal.
